Think for yourself - would a little less rubbish and a little less technology hurt us? Re*creations (practical-recycled-handmade products) show that less can be more than enough.

Save The Ink by Tanja

How come?

The ink of our printer needed to be replaced even though the cartridge was not totally empty yet!
Why not saving the remaining ink from going into landfill where it would pollute our environment?
"How?" I asked myself. "What if I would use up all the ink capturing it in a practical object?!"
And so I did.

I AS THE ARTIST CHOSE Mayari's Card Holder to be the practical object to lock up the remaining ink. For the graphic design I chose a nonperiodic tiling pattern named after the mathematical physicist Roger Penrose.

CHANCE DETERMINES the colour of the pattern; It is whatever ink is left in the cartige. The amount of prints - and therefore products - is determined by the amount of ink that has to be used up.

SAVE THE INK is not only art (a concept/an idea that might make you think and increase your awareness - in this case about reducing toxic waste from ink) but also a well designed product (a practical object). I think art and design can merge.

These are the 22 prints for this special edition. Some are already made into a Card Holder, some are still waiting to be made useful. (Click the number to view the graphic design large on flickr.)

Buy one of the 22 crafts in yellow

I am preferably using PayPal for orders and payment. One craft in yellow is valued at 47CHF(currency converter). If you can't use PayPal please send me an e-mail. I'm sure we'll find another solution!

The artist promises to give 0,7% of the money to kiva and 10% to her mother because mothers are heroines and without the support of mine, especially during the last 6 months, these crafts would have never come to life.
Which number would you like?
